Three Sons

HAD TO SHARE THIS ONE:

Three Jamaican sons left home, went out on their own and prospered.
Getting back together, they discussed the gifts they were able to
give to their elderly mother:

The first son said, "Mi bill a big house wid land an gi mama." The
second son said, "Mi sen har a cris Benz wid a driver"

The third smiled and said, "Mi beat di 2 a unnu. Yuh memba how Mama
use to love fi read har Bible? An yuh know seh she cyaan see too

Mi sen har a Church parrot dat recite di entire Bible. It tek di
elders inna di church 15 years fi teach im. Im exclusive man. Mama jus ha-fi

name di chapter an di verse, an di parrot wi recite it."

Soon thereafter, Mother sent out her letters of thanks:

"Milton," she wrote one son, "A weh duh yuh bwoy, a chupid yuh chupid

suh.
Di house yuh bill too big. A mi one live inna one room, but mi always

ha fi a clean di whole house."

"Winston," she wrote to another, "Yuh a eediat, yuh dun know mi too

"Dearest Delroy," she wrote to her third son, "you have the good
sense fi know what your mother likes. The chicken was delicious."

Move Over Diana...Here Comes Tess

For years I trumpeted and declared that Diana King was the best female vocalist that Jamaica has produced to date. Diana dethroned Nadine Sutherland back in the 90's, Nadine in turn dethroned Judy Mowatt back in the mid 80's. All still great vocal queens in their own right, but betta mus come. Alas, (yes, a lass) Tessanne Chin (Tami's younger sibling) is now making serious moves at bussing out.
After doing post high school duties with Mile High (J'can Rock-Reggae band) for a few years, and world wide touring as a Jimmy Cliff back-up singer, she (or they) are finally getting serious with her career as a true solo artist. GYAL CAN SING! Penny her single & video "Hideaway", press play nuh!? Yes, mi know, kinda easy on the eyes too. As I stated in this blog last year, she runs circles around her sister Tami Chynn when it comes to singing abilities. Which is really the original family spelling? Chynn or Chin? Who decided the change would be more marketable? which way did it change? By the way she also wrote a lot of Tami's album material for her.
She really has a good wide range of sweet vocal ability. She is (to me) better than Diana King, but only by a small margin though. I have heard her with Mile High and I have some unreleased material she recorded about a year ago, gyal can sing. She can handle a guitar too. Mek sure yu check out her Myspace page to hear some more of her music, especially "Messenger" .
Big tings a come fi dis one!

Foreign Exchange

Never under estimate the importance of understanding English;

I had a bunch of Canadian dollars I needed to exchange, so I went to
the currency exchange window at the local bank. Short line.

Just one guy in front of me, an Asian guy who was trying to exchange
yen for dollars and he was a little irritated . . .

He asked the teller, "Why it change??
Yestoday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen.
Today I get hunat eighty?? Why it change?"

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations".

The Asian guy says, "Fluc you whih people, too!"
